George Irons was the Vice Chairman of the Residents' Association for many years, and was in effect the "Friends of Oak Hill Park" liaising with Council officers and gaining grants for things like the playground equipment and the very first outdoor gym in Barnet.
George also represented EBRA on many planning and policing forums and groups.
George sadly passed away (aged 90) in 2017 just before receiving the posthumous Civic Award. We installed a bench in his memory for people to relax near the alfreso gym:
